CV

I’m an artist working in East Lothian, Scotland. My work draws on the natural environment, developing my art through connected processes of sketching, print making and writing. I like to develop ideas through multi-disciplinary projects such a Waterway at the John Muir Birthplace that led to an exhibition, film and limited edition book in 2023 and involved an element of exploration and discovery. I have exhibited throughout Scotland and have work in the collections of Aberdeen Hospital Trust and East Lothian Community Hospital. I have received East Lothian Visual Arts and Craft Makers Award various times to develop my art practice as well as awards such as The Elizabeth Greenshields award and Hospitalfield Scholarship.

My writing has been published in the Rialto and Northwords Now and I was shortlisted for the Callum Macdonald memorial award 2011, long listed for the Birdport pize, Tonbridge Poetry Competition winner in 2007 and commended in the Brownsbank International Open Poetry Competition.

I worked at Taigh Chearsabhagh museum and art centre on North Uist as an arts development officer for the project Land, and was a teacher on the HNC course that ran there as part of the Highland and Island university. I currently work for Orwell Arts in Edinburgh and work freelance delivering workshops for organisations such as North light Arts and The Ridge.

I completed a two-year herbal medicine course with Grass Roots Herbal medicine in 2018 and like to bring that experience into some of my workshops such as a project with a group of p7 children from Dunbar Primary School at Empire Close in Dunbar in 2023 looking at the apothecary garden, making art with the plants and looking at the history of traditional remedies.
