I like to head out and paint in situ to catch the changing light, aware of the smell of the earth and wind. For me it brings and energy and freshness to the work. Recently I’ve been making my own ink sourced from the surroundings, oak trees for oak gall ink and the soil and sandstone ground into pigments and the fleeting blues of elderberries.
